—The K-1 WORLD MAX 2025 -70kg World’s Strongest Tournament is being held again this year, starting with the opening round featuring 16 fighters. How did you feel when you received the offer to participate?
“I feel great, and I’m happy to be part of this prestigious tournament again.”

—In your last fight against Chen Yonghui, you won by impressive knockout. What was the key to that victory?
“I was stronger. That’s all there is. Because of that, I was able to give 100% and finish him.”

—Last year, you had to withdraw from the semifinals due to injury.
“It was a fantastic tournament, but I got injured and, unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the semifinals. I was focused on my own matches, so I didn’t really watch the others—but yes, it was frustrating.”

—This year’s tournament includes both returning top fighters and new entrants from around the world.
“I think it’s a good thing that new fighters are joining. It’ll help make it clear who the true number one in the world is. To be honest, there was just one name I had been hoping to see.”

—And that name is?
“Ouyang Feng. I’ve been wanting to face him, so I’m really glad this match is happening.”

—What’s your impression of Ouyan Feng as a fighter?
“He’s strong and well-rounded. I think he’s a very complete fighter.”

—In May’s K-1 Beyond event, you publicly called him out. What were you thinking when you saw him that day?
“Watching him in Yokohama, it was clear that he’s one of the top fighters in K-1. But it didn’t surprise me.”

—Ouyan Feng scored two knockdowns against Darryl Verdonk and won that fight. What did you think of that match?
“It was a great, tough fight. Verdonk never backed down and kept pressing forward to the very end. It was definitely an exciting fight to watch.”

—Ouyan Feng is the 5th K-1 WORLD GP Super Welterweight Champion, and he’s undefeated in K-1 at 3-0. Some even say he’s unbeatable. What do you think it takes to overcome him?
“My record in K-1 is 4 wins and 0 losses. With my fighting style, I believe I have everything it takes to beat him.”

—Can you tell us, as much as you’re willing to share, what you’re focusing on in training for this fight?
“I want to prove that I’m one of the best fighters in the world. I’m doing everything I can to make that happen.”

—Lastly, do you have a message for your fans in Japan?
“To all the fans in Japan, I’ll do my best to make sure you enjoy every part of the event. It’s a great honor for me to fight here in Japan. Thank you always for your support.”
